One of the Few
This is one of the few times I will be posting out in public. I have my reasons...To start with, what happened at Virginia Tech truly broke my heart. Since my new job makes me listen to the news over and over I heard the same sad news over and over. And it was if I was there just as a fly on a wall. I cried several times at work, and I mean tears down the cheeks. Each time I heard it I just felt a pit get drilled into my stomach.

Now I understand NBC not wanting to show footage from the gunman. Yes, but there are good reasons to show it as well. So we will learn from the mistakes and know what to do look for. Its better to see it on the news and have someone explain it to you rather then on youtube.com were people get the wrong message.

But what pisses me off to no end is Jack Thompson. The moron who couldn't tell a controller from a rock. He has the balls to say that video games caused the shooting at Virginia Tech. How Fucken DARE HE!? He has no place to say such irrational and unethical remarks. We all know that the gunman Cho Seung-Hui had mental issues. That has nothing to do with video games. Trying to blame something so tragic on some so minor is just immoral.

If people thought NBC hurt the families of victims then Jack Thompson just kicked them square in the teeth. There is no proof to what the man says or any facts to what he says. I hadn't heard anything about Jack Thompson in a while but the statement like this one only proves he needs to go back under a rock.

Then again he blamed Bill Gates for it as well sending a letter to him babbling on about something. Go find someone else to blame Jack, or better yet just don't say anything at all. Because right now a moment of silence is the best thing you can do for everyone.

Thank you Penny Arcade:

Jack Thompson is an evil man. I say evil, because he is the very type of person who, instead of seeking true justice and reason, seeks to sow strife and dischord by villifying the truly innocent. Only the evil will throw the innocent into the path of justice by demonifying it, to mask or hide the true cause of villainy, by pinning the blame on that which does not deserve it.

I wish someone would just up and sue the pants off of good 'Ol Jack for slander, defamation, obstruction of justice and have himself removed from practicing law for manipulating evidence to serve his cause.

You must have missed Chris Matthews' owning of him on MSNBC later this week. He openly questioned him asking him how he could know so much about Cho when none of his roommates ever saw him playing video games? Thompson would continue to assert he played games depsite evidence to the contrary. You can see it here

MSNBC later ran a lengthy article that cast serious doubt on Thompson and his theories. You can read that here.

Of course, Thompson came back on MSBNC to respond to that (or MSNBC asked him to respond, it's unclear). He then went on to call IGDA head Jason Della Rocca, who in the article described Thompson as a "massacre-chaser", and "idiot" and a "jackass." Yeah, real display of professionalism there.

While Thompson is indeed a class A-1 Douchebag, one good thing that came out of this week is that these recent news appearances are showing to the rest of the country what we've known for years. That and despite his insistence, that there is very little evidence that games were linked to this tragedy. Of course, it won't stop some like Thompson from trying, but by and large the news media has downplayed it and public opinion is also against him on it as well. His credibility has been on a downward slide for a while now, having been steadily whittled down. This week however took out a big chunk.

No need to get all up in the air about it right now. The media this time around called Jack out on his bullshit. MSNBC most notably, saying that Jack's goings-on about the correlation between the student's act and violent videogames was unfounded since police investigations found no video games at all. Furthermore Rush Limbaugh tore someone a new one over the airwaves who agreed with Jack and said people need to stop doing that. The media is now quoting that not only is there no proof of this, but back in the days before Pong was the worst shooting like this in US history *AND* that incidents like this have actually decreased with the evolution of games and all.

So trust me. The media is wising up to Jack's little game.

I believe you are right it just something about the whole aspect of him trying to gain self credit for being right (which he isn't) about something so horrible. Its like if a massaive amounts of babies were murdered and then someone coming in and saying SEE I told you people who don't breast feed aren't good mothers! Something outlandish like that. I want to send this to Jack and see what he thinks but I am just not feeling well enough to fight or laugh. So I just made it public. I know the little troll will find it sooner or later.
